Nina Ottosson Dog Memory Interactive Toy

The goal of this puzzle is to test your dog's memory.

Test your dog's memory by hiding a treat under a piece of a jigsaw puzzle, while the dog is watching. Then let the dog try to choose the right puzzle piece by indicating with its paw or nose, or alternatively lift up the right piece of the puzzle. The game can be used in a number of ways. You can test if your dog can see colours!

The idea...
...of the dog memory is that you and your dog will have a nice and enjoyable time together. The dog is to learn to remember where you have hidden the treat by indicating with its paw or nose, under which piece the treat has been hidden, alternatively lift up the right piece. You can also hide treats under all pieces of the puzzle and let the dog work to find them. When the dog knows how to work, you can make it considerably more difficult by turning some or all pieces with the knob down so that dog has to work with its paw or nose to try to get the piece up to reach the treat. Teach the dog to understand words like: wait, go ahead, back off, find it, sit, etc while you are playing. Enrich your relationship with your dog. You show, the dog looks, listens and learns. Praise it when it does things right. Together you will have fun!

Use No.1
Hide treats under one piece while the dog is watching. Use a suitable word like 'show'. Let the dog try to indicate with its paw or nose, alternatively lift up the right piece. If the dog indicates the wrong piece, so not say 'no' but rather use a neutral word like 'no treat' and try again. Give praise as soon as the dog has indicated the right piece. The next step is to hide a treat under a piece of the puzzle and then quickly hide the game by covering it with a towel or turn the dog's head away. Then let the dog try to choose the right piece. To teach the dog how to indicate the right piece can take a longer or shorter time for dogs to learn. Try and test to see how it goes. It is a challenge to see how long your dog will remember where you have hidden the treat.

Use No 2
You can also hide treats under all the puzzle pieces and let the dog work to find them.
Tips: Try to teach your dog colours, by the paw or nose mark or by lifting up the right colour piece of the puzzle. Begin with two colours, red and blue, hide a treat under the blue puzzle piece, say 'blue' and let the dog try to choose the blue puzzle piece by indicating with its paw or nose, or by lifting up the right piece. Practice and practice again until your dog 'knows' the colours.

Use No 3: Increase the level of difficulty.
When your dog knows how to work the game, you can make it considerably harder by turning some or all pieces with the knob down. Now the dog has to work to get the pieces up with its paw or nose in order to get the treats out. This is much harder since the piece can only be eased up through the hole at the side of each piece. If the dog tries to bite the game or its parts, put your hand over it and stop the game. When the dog has calmed down you can say 'go ahead' and let the dog try again. If the dog repeatedly wants to bite, teach it to work only with its paw. If, on the other hand, the dog wants to throw itself on the game and beat excessively with its paw, then teach it to work with its nose by putting the game on a stool/chair which is adapted to the size of the dog. This is also useful if the dog has an injured paw or is newly operated.

Important.
Do not let your pet chew or bite the toy. Play only together with your pet, and do not leave them unattended. Your pet must not play or chew the blocks/parts. Put the game away when you have finished playing. Only for animals, it is not a toy for children. Suitable for dogs and cats of all ages and sizes.
